Our mobile shred trucks roll up to your Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler, or statewide Arizona data center and degauss and shred backup tapes in your parking lot under your representative's witness. For larger archives (10,000+ tapes) we set up an on-site secure cage with EPL-listed degaussers and a portable industrial shredder. A NAID AAA Certified operator runs the engagement and a preliminary Certificate of Destruction is handed to you before the truck leaves the dock.
Degaussing exposes the tape to a magnetic field stronger than the media's coercivity, randomizing every magnetic domain and rendering recorded data unrecoverable — this satisfies NIST 800-88 'Purge.' Shredding mechanically destroys the cartridge and ribbon into particles too small to reconstruct, satisfying NIST 800-88 'Destroy.' For HIPAA, GLBA, and PCI-DSS workloads we typically degauss first and then shred — defense-in-depth that produces a chain-of-evidence record at each stage. Top-secret and classified workloads require shredding alone to NSA/CSS EPL particle sizes; degaussing alone is insufficient under NIST guidance for confidential federal data.

We accept a release authorization, schedule the pickup, take custody at the vault dock with serial-level reconciliation, transport in GPS-tracked NAID AAA vehicles, and destroy under chain of custody. Your Certificate of Destruction lists every barcode and serial from the vault manifest — no gaps, no variances. We can also process scheduled rolling-archive destruction as tapes age out of your retention policy.

Never. Shredded tape ribbon and cartridge shells go to R2v3-certified downstream recyclers for material recovery only — the polyester substrate, magnetic coating, and ABS cartridge housings are processed for raw material reclamation, never refurbished, resold, or reused. Tape destruction is one-way by design. Our R2v3 downstream audit trail is documented on the Certificate of Destruction so your ESG and Scope 3 reporting captures the diversion-from-landfill credit.

Free pickup runs roughly 60 miles from our Scottsdale processing facility (all of Maricopa County), with scheduled routes for the rest of Arizona.
